A team of undergraduate students from the Moore School finished fourth, behind Villanova, Santa Clara University, and the University of Southern California, at the Greater Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce Global Business Competition November 1.

Advisor Pat DeMouy, a lecturer of management at the business school, said despite not repeating last year’s first-place finish by a Moore School team, this year's team was recognized by their peers for an outstanding job.

"Advisors from other teams wanted copies of our PowerPoint presentation," DeMouy said. "The head of the management department at Loyola Marymount University asked for permission to use our presentation in teaching students at a Russian university in Moscow.  He told our students that our presentation was a great example of what a professional presentation should look like."

L.A. case team members included seniors Raghav Mehra, Katie Platzbecker, and Andrew Schwark, and junior Amanda Peters.

This is the third year that the Moore School has fielded undergraduate case competition teams, who compete with students from other American and foreign universities to present solutions for a real business case.  Moore School teams have had recent successes in international competitions in Thailand in August, and Singapore in October, where they placed second-runner-up and second overall, respectively. In January, a Moore School case team will compete in the John Molson International Case Competition in Montreal, and, in April, a team will compete in the University of Washington’s Global Business Competition.
