Dr. Scott Koerwer, associate dean of professional programs and services for the
Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, will be joining the Moore School of
Business on Nov. 1 as deputy dean. His responsibilities will include internal operations and

The announcement was made by Dr. Hildy Teegen, who became dean of the Moore School on Sept.
15.
"We are fortunate to have someone of Scott's caliber and experience joining us at this
critical time for the future of the Moore School," said Teegen. "Scott's extensive background in
higher education administration and his track record of outstanding leadership at two of this
country's best business schools (Smith and Wharton) will provide us with critical insights and
expertise as we work to implement our strategies and fulfill our mission."
As the newest member of the senior management team at Moore, Koerwer will join Dr. Gregory R.

for Global Studies (where he was co-director of the school's Center for International Business
Education and Research), the Office of Executive Education, and Office of Career Management, the
worldwide Executive MBA Programs, the MBA and MS Programs, and the Part-time MBA Program.
Before joining the Smith School, Koerwer held a variety of positions during his nine-year
affiliation with the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He is also an entrepreneur in the education industry, having launched three companies and
having worked as a consultant to numerous companies, entrepreneurial initiatives, and educational
enterprises.
At the Smith School, Koerwer notched many accomplishments, including establishing the
Division of Executive Education; designing and launching the Smith Executive MBA Program (on three
continents); opening Smith School offices in Beijing and Shanghai; launching the Smith Professional
MS Degree programs, including accounting and supply chain programs; and establishing degree
programming partnerships for the school in Tunisia, Switzerland, and India. In 2004, he received
the International Leadership Award for the State of Maryland from the World Trade Center Institute
and then-Governor Robert Ehrlich.
He has been involved in education and business program development in countries around the
world, including China, Singapore, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, England, Scotland, Saudi
Arabia, Egypt, Poland, Switzerland, and Japan. Koerwer has teaching experience in the areas of
leadership, political science, ethics, communication, and organizational
change/development/strategy.
Koerwer holds a bachelor's degree from Muhlenberg College, a master's degree in government
and political science from Lehigh University, and a doctorate in education from the University of
