Dr. Scott B. Jackson and Dr. William J. Kettinger were elected by the IMBA Class of 2006 as the recipients of this year's IMBA Core Faculty Awards.
Dr. Jackson, assistant professor in the School of Accounting, was chosen by the IMBA students who completed the core curriculum on the Columbia, S.C. campus. Loved by students, Jackson says the feeling is mutual: "The aspect of teaching in the IMBA program that I like the most is the students. There is rarely a day that I do not think to myself that I am extremely fortunate to teach so may bright, hardworking, and interesting individuals. It is also rewarding to know that students have grown to appreciate the importance of accounting and are eager to put their new knowledge to good use." Dr. Jackson was also the winner of the Moore School's 2006 Alfred G. Smith, Jr. Teaching Award—the school's highest teaching honor.
Dr. Kettinger, information systems professor, was selected by the IMBA European Track students who attended core courses at the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien campus in Vienna, Austria. Dr. Kettinger also was recently promoted to full professor in the Management Science Department. He describes his work: "Having first been an IS manager, and later trained as a scholar, I attempt to bring research rigor to the understanding of contemporary issues facing senior managers. It is my intent to deliver value to both the managerial and academic communities in such research areas as strategic information management, information capabilities valuation, IS quality measurement, process management, and the effective use of global supply chains. Satisfying both audiences makes this an exciting challenge!" Students in the IMBA European Track study on two continents and earn degrees from two leading business schools.
