
The Moore School’s International Business (IB) department was well-represented at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Academy of International Business (AIB), held June 25-28 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
A paper written by Dr. Omrane Guedhami, currently a faculty member at Memorial University of Newfoundland who will join Moore’s IB faculty in August, was named a finalist for the Temple/AIB Best Paper Award. The paper is entitled "Excess Control, Corporate Governance, and Implied Cost of Equity: International Evidence."
Dr. Tatiana Kostova, associate professor of IB at Moore, was cited for her efforts in organizing the AIB/Journal of International Business Studies Paper Development Workshop.
Gundula Lücke, a doctoral student in international business at Moore, won the Best Dissertation Proposal Award, which included a $1,500 stipend. Her dissertation is entitled "Development of Biculturalism in Cross-Cultural Managers in Multinational Corporations: A Cultural Participation Approach." Members of Lucke’s dissertation committee are Dr. Kendall Roth, chairman and professor of IB; Dr. Andrew Spicer, assistant professor of IB; Dr. Kostova; and Dr. Elizabeth Ravlin, associate professor management.
Dr. Annique Un, assistant professor of IB; Dr. Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra, assistant professor of IB; Dr. Chuck C.Y. Kwok, professor of IB; and Dr. Kelly Hewett (BS ’98), lecturer in marketing, presented papers at the conference. So did Veli Emre Ozdemir and Chei Hwee Chua, Moore doctoral students, along with Dr. Andres Ramirez (Ph.D. ’06), now at Bryant University.
