Dr. Mann Comments on Federal Reserve Rate Cut on NPR

Dr. Steve Mann Dr. Steven V. Mann , professor of finance, offered his professional observation about the recent U.S. Federal Reserve interest rate cut and parallels with the European Central Bank (ECB) in a news story for "Marketplace", which aired January 23 on National Public Radio.

Marketplace reporter John Dimsdale said that “Europeans are enjoying a growing
economy” and are resisting pressure to follow the Federal Reserve’s lead in cutting rates.

"It leads one to believe the Federal Reserve here in the United States is more vulnerable to political pressures than their counterparts in Europe," said Dr. Mann.

Others commented on the differences in focus between the two organizations, that is, the Federal Reserve’s focus on unemployment compared to the ECB’s focus on inflation.
