Republic of Georgia Delegation Visits Moore School

Six members of Parliament from the Republic of Georgia (formerly part of the Soviet Union) visited the Moore School in April as part of an 11-day tour of the United States.  The delegation’s visit to South Carolina (their itinerary also included a visit to Savannah, Georgia, and Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.,) was coordinated by the office of Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC).

The visit was part of a Parliamentary Exchange Program sponsored by the House Democracy Assistance Commission of the U.S. House of  Representatives. The programs are aimed at showing the American way of life and governing to representatives of countries that are transitioning to democracy.

Dr. Martin S. Roth, executive director of Moore’s International MBA program, and other Moore faculty and staff met with the members of Parliament, their staff, and their interpreters April 19 to tell them about the IMBA program and to invite Georgians to apply for admission.

During their South Carolina stay, the group visited the South Carolina legislature and the Lexington Medical Center, and attended a dinner at McCutchen House on the University of South Carolina campus.

Martin Frost, a former 13-term Democratic congressman from Texas, also accompanied the group.
