APICS

APICS is an organization of operations and supply chain professionals providing information, services, and education in production and inventory management and related areas.  Previously known as the American Production and Inventory Control Society, the national APICS organization provides an extensive reference bookstore and supports the well-known certification program in CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management).  The local chapter, Mid-Carolina APICS, meets monthly for dinner and professional development.  Students are welcome at these meetings.

The local student chapter of APICS, chartered in 1989, was revitalized in 2003 under the leadership of graduate business students interested in CPIM certification.  With assistance from the local chapter, twelve students initiated the certification program in 2003-2004 to both improve their backgrounds in supply chain practice and to provide further enhance credentials.  The chapter plans to continue working with local professionals, networking and increasing exposure to APICS and related areas.
