Ph.D. in Business Administration: Management Information Systems Emphasis

Objectives

The Ph.D. degree with an emphasis in Management Information Systems (MIS) is designed to provide advanced education in MIS for students of outstanding ability who are pursuing careers in university research and teaching, business, and government. More specifically, the degree with MIS emphasis provides:

A foundation in various types of information systems and technologies. These would include telecommunications, databases, group support systems, and artificial intelligence. In addition, topics relating to the use of such systems to promote organizational effectiveness and strategic advantages, and as enablers of business reengineering, are also covered.
Intensive training in research methods applicable to information systems problems.
Learning and implementation of research through close interaction between students and faculty.

The Management Information Systems area will not be admitting any students for the 2009-2010 academic year.
