History

The Daniel-Mickel Center for Executive Education (formerly the Daniel Management Center) is one of the country's leading university-based business education centers.  Since 1972, the Center has enhanced the business, leadership and communication skills of more than 250,000 people worldwide.

The Center also serves as a vital link between employers and the Moore School of Business, creating mutually beneficial partnerships.  As a result, we are able to draw upon a remarkable network of experts -- including business professionals, outstanding professors at the University of South Carolina, and innovative professors and leaders from other international institutions – to lead our education programs.

Buck Mickel
The Daniel Management Center was named in 1972 in honor of Charles E. Daniel, the founder of Daniel International Corporation, who died in 1964.  The center’s name has now been changed to the Daniel-Mickel Center for Executive Education in honor of both Mr. Daniel and the late R. Buck Mickel, and to recognize the Daniel-Mickel Foundation’s most recent generous donation to the Moore School.  Mr. Mickel, who died in 1998, was chairman of Fluor Daniel Corporation.
