Center for Business Communication

English as a Second Language


For Moore School students, faculty, staff, and alumni who are non-native speakers of English, the Center for Business Communication has consultants trained in linguistics to help you with speaking and writing North American English and understanding U.S. cultures. We will work with you on a project-by-project basis, or you may wish to make a standing appointment for the ongoing development of your communication skills.

The Center for Business Communication’s ESL services are intended for clients who already have a working knowledge of English and are especially interested in workplace communication. Those who need more intensive language instruction should contact  English Programs for Internationals at the University of South Carolina

You are welcome to drop by any time during office hours, but to make sure that a consultant will be available at a time that is convenient for you, we ask that you make an appointment in advance.  Appointments are usually available within a day or two, but during particularly busy times of the semester, you may want to call several days in advance.

Appointments can be made either in person at the CBC office, or by phone at (803) 777-5904.  If for any reason you are unable to keep an appointment, we ask that you call to let us know so that we can give the time to another client.
