Biography
Dr. Jennifer Winchel is an assistant professor at the Moore School of Business at
the University of South Carolina. She joined the faculty of the Moore School of Business
after spending one year as a visiting instructor at Georgia State University. She holds a
Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Illinois Wesleyan University, a Master of Accounting Science
from Northern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Texas at
Austin. Dr. Winchel's primary research interests are judgment and decision making as it
relates to financial accounting and reporting settings. She is particularly interested in how
nonprofessional investors use financial accounting informaiton to make investement decisions.
Prior to returning to academia, Dr. Winchel worked as a manager in the audit practice of
PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago.
