Biography
Dr. Thomas J. Lopez is an Associate Professor of Accounting in the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. In July 2008, he was named Special Assistant to the Dean for Diversity Initiatives to assist in setting strategy, directing programs, and managing issues related to student, faculty, and staff diversity. He has a B.S. in Business from Florida International University, an M.S. in Tax from California State - Hayward, and a Ph.D. in Accounting from Arizona State University, where he graduated in 1998. Dr. Lopez joined the South Carolina faculty in 2004. Prior to that, he was on the accounting faculties at Georgia State University and Texas A&M University. Dr. Lopez teaches financial statement analysis primarily to fiance undergraduate students. His research interests are in the areas of corporate restructuring, executive compensation and various aspects of analysts' forecasts. Dr. Lopez has published his research in journals such as the Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Accounting Review, the Journal of the American Taxation Association, the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy and the Journal of Accounting Auditing and Finance.
