Biography

Becky Kerr is a lecturer in the School of Accounting.  She is currently teaching Introduction to Financial Accounting II and Financial Accounting III.  She occassionally teaches Introduction to Managerial Accounting and Cost Accounting I.

Kerr completed her Master of Business Administration in 1984 and her Master of Accountancy in 1991.  She has been a CPA licensed in Florida since 1993.

She held positions as lecturer at Midlands Technical College and Adjunct Instructor at Columbia College before coming to the University of South Carolina.

Kerr is a former president of the South Carolina Association of Accounting Instructors, a former president of the Columbia chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, a former chair of the National Academic Relations Committee of the Institute of Management Accountants, and a former member of the Executive Committee of the National Institute of Management Accountants.

She is currently chair of the Scholarship Committee for the Columbia chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants.

Kerr was honored by the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants as an Outstanding Accounting Educator in 1998, by the USC Mortar Board with their Excellence in Teaching Award in 2002, by the National Institute of Management Accountants with their Distinguished Service Award in 2003, and by Delta Sigma Pi as the Outstanding Accounting Professor in 2006.
