Biography

Dr. Marcus L. Caylor is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina.  He received his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1998, his Master of Science in Economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1999 and his Ph.D. in Accounting from Georgia State University in 2006.

His teaching interests are in the area of financial accounting.  He was a Temporary Instructor for the 2005-2006 academic year at Georgia State University while completing his Ph.D.

Dr. Caylor's research interests primarily focus on financial reporting issues with a special emphasis in the area of earnings management.  He also does research in the areas of corporate governance and analyst forecasts.  His research has been cited and/or he has been quoted in numerous magazines and newspapers around the world including Atlanta Business Chronicle, Australian Financial Review, CFO Magazine, The New  York Times and The Wall Street Journal.  His research on corporate governance has been cited in proxy statements of several corporations.  In addition, he is ranked in the top one percent of all authors in terms of papers downloaded on the Social Science Research Network (SSRN):  http://ssrn.com/author=338597.
