RE:          FAD Bubba Boil

On behalf of the Friends of Accounting (FAD) Board of Directors, I would like to thank you for your past support of the "Bubba Boil."  After much consideration and review of the event and its purpose, a decision has been made to cancel this year's "Bubba Boil" which was scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2008 at Pine Island.  We apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause those of you who regularly attend.

Over the last several years, the "Bubba Boil" has been viewed as an opportunity for recruiting USC accounting students and as a way for them to interact with faculty and professionals in a relaxed setting.  However, in light of changing times and the later September date, it is no longer serving as a recruiting opportunity.  Thus, the time is ripe for a change in the function and to a venue that is more closely tied to the University.

Although this may be the end of the Pine Island chapter for the "Bubba Boil", the FAD Board will have a future social event and is excited about the opportunity of planning this "new" event which will be held annually.  We want to continue to allow for the faculty, students, USC School of Accounting alumni and other friends of the SOA to gather in a social setting.  As soon as the event is planned, we will forward the information and post it to the websites for the Moore School of Business, School of Accounting and FAD.

We would like your feedback in considering the future format of the event.  Please submit your ideas and comments for the event.  Do you see this as a recruiting tool, as a way to connect with USC faculty and other accounting alumni, or something completely different?  Please send your comments to dgunter@bpscpas.com or nleaphart@electricguarddog.com.

We look forward to seeing you all at an up and coming FAD event!
